About Cashwig - our Aims

The aims of the Coreen and Suie Hills Windfarm Information Group (CaSHWIG) are to:

  • Gather information about the windfarm proposed for the Correen Hills, adjacent to the Suie Hill and the Suie Hill road. This will include promoting awareness of the construction, operation and maintenance of the windfarm, and the impact of these activities, our landscape, environment and communities.
  • To make this information readily available to local residents, and those who use this area for recreational purposes, so that they can develop their own informed opinions on the merits, or otherwise, of the proposal.
  • Function as conduit for the community from across three affected Community Council areas and to make representations regarding the proposed wind farm.

CaSHWIG are not a group opposed to carbon free energy sources. We believe there is a role and a place for renewable energy sources and that the quality of life and inheritance we leave to our descendants depend on achieving the right balance of these sources. In other words the right energy sources put in the right place.
